Our Vision
An Africa where young people lead with dignity, drive sustainable development, and shape their own future – thriving in economic freedom and social justice.
Our Mission
We empower young people and women with the skills, resources, and platforms to thrive – driving economic resilience, leading with integrity, and shaping their communities.
Our Journey Of Impact
The Step Up Youth Initiative wasn’t born from a boardroom – it was forged from a decade of evidence and the realization that policy must meet people where they are. We’re driven by the belief that Africa’s youth hold the solutions to its toughest challenges – poverty, inequality, climate change, and unemployment. We’ve listened, advocated, and evolved into builders – bridging the gap between global goals and local household realities. This is our journey of voices and action.
The Spark
We empower young people and women not just to participate, but to lead, innovate, and drive solutions that spark a brighter future. This spark is fueled by ObuntuBulamu—the conviction that our individual potential is only fully realized when it serves the collective good. We ignite this change by equipping the marginalized with the tools of Economic Freedom and the voice of Civic Responsibility. From the boardroom to the farm, we are turning the hope into sustainable progress.
The Architects Of Dignity
We build systems that restore human value where it has been undermined. Our work addresses the systemic inequality and marginalization that prevent individuals and communities from thriving. Through our Komuka Skills Hub and Obuntu Model Farm, we provide practical vocational training and market linkages that transform the livelihoods of urban refugee youth and rural women farmers. However, we recognize that local success requires a supportive systemic environment. Therefore, we use our ground-level data to influence national policies, closing the gaps that limit the freedoms and potential of women and girls —because, when one person ‘Steps Up’ with dignity, the entire community rises.
