Our Expertise
Obuntu Knowledge Model
Rooted in the Ugandan philosophy of Obuntu (humanity towards others), the Obuntu Knowledge Model guides the Step Up Youth Initiative. This model fosters a new generation of leaders who actively mobilize communities and empower youth to tackle critical challenges like poverty, inequality, and climate change. Through the Obuntu lens of respect, reciprocity, and shared responsibility, young people develop essential skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership, and collaboration. Join us in harnessing the power of Obuntu to build a more just and sustainable future for Ugandan and African communities. Together, let's create a brighter world.

Feedback About Our Work
Sandra Nakayenze
Step Up Youth Initiative has been a game-changer for young women like me in rural communities. They empower us not just as entrepreneurs but also as connectors. Here in Bulambuli, far from the usual spotlight, Step Up Youth Initiative helped us showcase our agricultural business at the Women in Agribusiness Summit and Expo. They connected us to a platform we never thought possible! Nobody had ever reached out to us before, but Step Up Youth Initiative did. They are true enablers, and I'm incredibly grateful for their support.

Step Up Youth Initiative has been an invaluable partner in ensuring the voices of the most marginalized are heard on the global stage. Their recent advocacy video for the 2024 Shot at Life Summit was instrumental in bringing the experiences of voiceless communities to the forefront. Having these powerful perspectives represented is a privilege, and it strengthens our call to world leaders for a global commitment to vaccine equity. We are incredibly grateful for Step Up Youth Initiative's dedication to amplifying the voices that matter most.

Mobilization has never been our community's challenge, the real hurdle lies in maintaining consistency on critical issues, urging leaders to act while empowering our communities to implement solutions themselves. Simply changing policies won't address climate change, hunger, or inequality if the community isn't actively involved in finding local solutions.<br />That's why I applaud Step Up Youth Initiative. Their Obuntu Knowledge Model is a game-changer. It recognizes, empowers, and utilizes local knowledge, bridging the gap between awareness and action. As leaders, we need to support Step Up Youth Initiative in scaling up their work. I guarantee them our full support in Mbale City.
