Promoting Sustaianble Menstrual Hygien Solutions for a Period-Friendly World

This Menstrual Hygiene Week, Step Up Youth Initiative stands alongside Girls Must and the global movement to break the silence and stigma surrounding menstruation. We believe every girl and woman deserves access to safe, affordable, and dignified menstrual hygiene solutions. Let’s work together to build a world where periods don’t hold girls back!

Our collaboration with Girls Must  dates back to 2021 when Menstrual Hygiene Week was launched in Uganda by Girls Must at the SDGs Secretariat under the Office of the Prime Minister. Since then, we have been committed to supporting this initiative, which resonates with our mission to empower young people, especially girls, to fulfill and enjoy their full potential.

Menstrual Hygiene Week is a vital initiative that addresses the systemic barriers and stigmas surrounding menstruation. By promoting sustainable menstrual hygiene solutions, we can help break down the barriers that hold girls and women back from reaching their full potential.

This year, we are excited to have our own Julian Kanyesigye as a panelist at the Mental and Menstrual Health Education peer learning session on 28th May, part of the Menstrual Hygiene Week events. This session will provide a platform for discussing the intersection of mental and menstrual health, a critical aspect of empowering girls and women.
